LIFE AFTER TABAREZ

The Uruguayan Tim Vickery, Mario Bardanca, recently ended his long run as Blog Writer for Montevideo.Com, Mario Bardanca’s last Blog article warned of what awaits Uruguay next year, the 4-year reign of Oscar Tabarez comes to an end this July. Regardless of where Uruguay finishes in the World Cup, El Maestro will step down as Uruguayan coach and make way for a new coach. Read the rest of this entry »

Missed Opportunities

Abel Hernandez Penalty MissYeah I know… Uruguay’s Under-20 Squad lost today to a more powerful Brazilian side, its the same old story… “Uruguay can’t catch a break” — can’t seem to win a tournament at any level but even though the Brazilians dominated in the first half of play, Uruguay played one of the best games I have seen at any level. “Flip-side of the same coin?”

Por Fin!!! musleraLike the song says… “Its been a long time since I rock n’ roll” — Where to begin? These two squads, the Uruguayan Senior Men’s team & the Under-20 Squad are flip-sides of the same coin, luck will be an important factor for both sides. Read the rest of this entry »

SERIE-A BACK WITH A VENGENCE

musleraNot that it matters in the grand scheme of things, considering that the current power base of the Uruguayan National Team is comprised of players who play in the Spanish & Portuguese leagues, but SERIE-A is back… one of the best leagues in the world, officially kicked off last night. A number of Uruguayans play in the Serie-A, although not necessarily in the high profile teams but nonetheless, the “Yoruguas” are there making their presence felt.

A Good Start for the Future?

Article Pic

Pretty soon we will find out officially whether or not Uruguay has qualified for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Many have already written off the NT and are looking to the future. The question is if Uruguay does not qualify, is it time to start from scratch, scrap the program, or is there hope on the horizon? Read the rest of this entry »
