‘Twas The Night Before The Repechaje…
So here we are, the night before the Repechaje. My question to all of you is “How you feeling?” As for me, I’m doing good, no pre-match anxiety. In fact my nerves are steady like Michael Corleone holding that lighter for Enzo the Baker… Maybe it’s the opponent or rather the lack of history between Uruguay and Costa Rica that doesn’t have me worked up for this match. With Australia there was raw hatred, with Brazil you always get worked up ––– but Costa Rica? Can we really get worked up for this match even if its for a World Cup berth?

The Costa Ricans love being in the eye of the hurricane, going as far as putting out a concise history of Uruguay vs Costa Rica (1) ––– my thing is why bother? The last time Uruguay faced Costa Rica was in 2001 & I may be mistaken but Sebastian Eguren was on the last squad that faced Costa Rica… the point is that at this point Costa Rica is a complete and total strange oddity. It’s a geographical point on a map, its a place where we have to go to play a football match. They have their share of supporters and God Bless them especially these two below:

But as far as I’m concerned Uruguay should win this series, now at the same time am I advocating that Tabarez & Company disregard the competition? No… Uruguay under Tabarez has taken the “smaller” opponents more seriously than the “bigger” opponents. Maybe this is where Uruguayan football is at… Good enough to lick the small fry but not good enough to get in automatically or take care of the real deal National Teams (Argentina, Brazil & Paraguay). But hey to that I have to say, Football has advanced and Uruguay is trying to pick itself up again after years of dysfunctional qualification campaigns and absurd long term goals or lack of. If Uruguay wants to return to the World’s biggest stage they have to take care of Costa Rica first. Should we fail tomorrow night, just remember El Estadio Centenario and its real “grass” affords us our Plan B.
VAMOS URUGUAY!!!

I heard yesterday that we played 5 matches, with 5 wins… i think we are men enough to keep that! Ah ah… plus! I heard too the Costa Rica’s Motivator, live! my God! he looks like the brazilian church minister from “Pare de Sufrir”
lol… I wanna hear them singing Color Esperanza, it’d make my day!
Sé.. que hay en tus ojos con sólo mirar… al miedo no lo podés ocultar!!
