Under-20 “Yoruguas” get the Victory!
Thanks to a goal from Sebastian Coates, the Uruguayan Under-20 squad were able to beat the Atlético Paranaense Junior Squad by a 1-0 score-line in warm-up match to the Under-20 World Cup played in Curitiba. The goal came by way of a header by Sebastian Coates in the 4th minute of action in the second half. With this result, Uruguay starts their Curitiba tour on a positive note. “Revenge of the Kung-Fu Bolivians”
Flying Kicks, another Uruguayan caught in the middle and good old Blooming in the spotlight once again? What’s the matter in Bolivia I ask? I suspect that Bolivians are watching way too many Bruce Lee movies. SERIE-A BACK WITH A VENGENCE
Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, considering that the current power base of the Uruguayan National Team is comprised of players who play in the Spanish & Portuguese leagues, but SERIE-A is back… one of the best leagues in the world, officially kicked off last night. A number of Uruguayans play in the Serie-A, although not necessarily in the high profile teams but nonetheless, the “Yoruguas” are there making their presence felt.
“Golden Balls” coming to Durazno?
David Beckham will play a friendly match against Uruguayan second division team, Asociación Atlética Durazno Fútbol Club. This according to Durazno’s new manager, the polemical Argentinean, Gaby Álvarez, who didn’t stop with the Beckham boast and assured those in the press conference that Durazno will also play a friendly match against Argentina’s San Lorenzo de Almagro. A Good Start for the Future?

Pretty soon we will find out officially whether or not Uruguay has qualified for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Many have already written off the NT and are looking to the future.
